The Pandora MythAt the beginning of the Greek

The Pandora Myth
At the beginning of the Greek world, a man named Prometheus duped the king of gods, Zeus. Smart and good, he wanted to give the fire, only reserved for the inhabitants of the mount Olympus, to the mortals. When Zeus discovered the trick, he decided to punish him. Prometheus was put on the top of a high mountain and an eagle had to eat his liver which actually regenerated all the time. This was one of the most terrible punishment that Zeus had imposed.
However, he thought that the mortal was not the only culprit. He decided to make a new punishment, destined to all the inhabitants of the Earth. He asked his brother Hephaestus to create a human being, and to give it the body of a virgin goddess. Athena taught it different kinds of homework, Aphrodite gave it the elegance and the desire. Zeus wanted Hermes to put a heart in its breast. The first woman was created and her name was Pandora, from « παν » (= all) and « δορα » (=gift, present).
In fact, this meant that women were the trouble present given to the poor men. Zeus sent his creation to Epimetheus, Prometheus’s brother.T his guy was very kind but also very stupid. He wanted to save humanity and accepted the god’s gift. Pandora was accompanied by a box, full of all the existing misfortunes. And the curiosity of the woman made her open the box. Pain and diseases came upon  Earth, and only « Hope », the anticipation of trouble, stayed at the bottom of the box.
Pandora incriminated the depravity of the humans, especially the women, as Eve in the Genesis. The first author who described this myth was Hesiode, in his work « Theogony ».
